Los Angeles Dodgers Mookie Betts receives a warm welcome from Boston Red Sox fans. It was his first visit to Fenway Park since being traded in 2020.

Betts won the American League MVP in 2018 with the Red Sox. Ahead of free agency, the Red Sox sent left-hander David Price and Betts to the Dodgers on Feb. 11, 2020, in a two-for-three trade for outfielder Alex Verdugo, infielder Jeter Downs and catcher Conor Wong.

The Dodgers signed Betts to a massive 12-year, $365 million contract on July 23 before the start of the 2020 season, which was shortened to a 60-game schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the time, it was the third-largest contract in North American sports history.

The Betts deal has been a success so far. He was named an All-Star three years in a row. In his first year, the Dodgers won the World Series for the first time in 32 years since 1988. He narrowly missed out on the National League MVP award that year, losing out to Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman. Now they’re teammates.

Betts and Freeman’s one-two tablesetter is the best in the majors. This year, Betts and Freeman are in a tight MVP race with Atlanta outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. and first baseman Matt Olson.

In the first game of the three-game series at Fenway Park on April 26, the Dodgers came from behind to win 7-4 and extend their winning streak to three games. The Betts-Freeman one-two punch combined for five hits, five runs scored and one RBI. Freeman went 4-for-5 with a home run, RBI and three runs scored, including a game-winning double in the seventh inning that broke a 3-3 tie. It was his MLB-leading 48th double of the season.

Boston jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on Verdugo’s leadoff homer (his 11th) and Trevor Story’s season-ending two-run shot in the second, but the bullpen collapsed against a steadily chipping away at the Dodgers offense. Boston held a 14-10 advantage in hits. All four of the Dodgers’ doubles came at the right time, and they were held without a home run.

Dodgers starter Lance Lynn was rocked by three runs in the first and second innings, but scattered 10 hits and allowed four runs (three earned) in six innings for his 10th win of the season. He came to the Dodgers from the Chicago White Sox and picked up his fourth win.토토사이트

Boston pounded the defending champion Houston Astros for 24 hits the day before in a 17-1 blowout, but the early offense ran out of steam after the third inning.
