National Basketball Association (NBA) star Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors will receive the Charlie Seaford Award for promoting diversity in golf.
The Golf Hall of Fame announced today that Curry will be honored with the award, Reuters and the Associated Press reported. The ceremony will take place on June 10, 2024 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, during the 124th U.S. Open Championship.
The Charlie Seaford Award is named in honor of Charlie Seaford (1922-2015), the first African-American to become a member of the U.S. Professional Golf (PGA) Tour.토토사이트
Curry has always been known as an avid golf fan. In 2019, Curry announced a six-year funding commitment to Howard University, a historically black college in Washington, D.C., and in 2021, he launched an initiative to make golf accessible to young players from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“I am honored to receive the Charlie Seaford Award,” said Curry, “I believe the game of golf can grow by providing equal opportunities for young golfers with passion, dedication and determination.”
