The Los Angeles Dodgers will move aggressively in the offseason to bolster their lineup.
“The Dodgers aren’t wasting any time getting the offseason started,” MLB.com reported on Wednesday, “After the World Series, the Dodgers made their first big decision. They signed third baseman Max Muncy to a two-year, $24 million extension. The deal keeps the National League All-Star under contract through 2025.”
The Dodgers also included an option for Muncy to extend his contract for one more year in 2026 for a $10 million payment by the Dodgers.
“By signing Muncy early in the offseason, the Dodgers have a better idea of what they’re going to do over the winter,” MLB.com reported, noting that the Dodgers will continue to compete for Ohtani. “It’s going to be a busy offseason,” MLB.com added.
In his major league career, Ohtani is 38-19 with a 3.01 ERA in 86 games (481⅔ innings) as a pitcher and 701 games as a hitter, batting .274 (2,483-for-681) with 171 home runs, 437 RBIs and a .922 OPS.
He’s one of the most sought-after players in free agency this year, although an elbow injury that prevented him from finishing the season dented his rating a bit. As a pitcher, he appeared in 23 regular-season games (132 innings) this year, going 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA. As a hitter, in 135 games (497 at-bats, 151 hits), he batted .245 with 44 home runs, 95 RBIs, and a 1.066 OPS. He led the American League in home runs even if he didn’t make it to the end.
The Dodgers have consistently been a favorite to acquire Ohtani. There have been reports that his price tag could be as high as $600 million. 보스토토 도메인
